So last week I posted part one of Michael & Laura’s wedding in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Can you guess what’s next?
Yep, part two.
You deserve a cookie.
There’s always that one photo from a shoot that makes you go “heck yeah”. That photo from this shoot was completely unplanned. Our time to shoot photos between the ceremony and reception was cut a tad short so near the end of the reception I stole Laura and Michael to do a few bride and groom shots. What happened next may have never happened had we had the time we originally planned on. Had the stars not aligned. Had Michael not totally blown my mind.
It went like this. I’m shooting a few shots and Michael starts to unbutton his shirt. I went with it. As he pulls his shirt apart the superman logo shows through the opening. I could not have planned that. Even if I had, I don’t know if I could convince a groom to wear a superman shirt under his tux. It would certainly be a challenge to get the bride’s approval. In that moment I experienced nerdy photographer bliss. Here’s the part two of their wedding and the heck yes photo.
I should have a card board sign that states “Have Camera, Will Travel”. I love what I do and I love to travel so when a bride and groom ask me to travel (anywhere) to do their wedding photography, or an engagement photo session, or pretty much whatever I jump at the opportunity. There is nothing more challenging and exciting than having to shoot in a completely unfamiliar location. Luckily I lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma for six years so when Laura and Michael asked me to shoot their wedding I was a little familiar with the territory.
A few months ago I traveled to Tulsa to shoot their engagement session and Laura’s bridals (more on that later). Two weeks ago Bill got to go with me to shoot their wedding. They’re a fabulous little couple and they had a fairy tale wedding. Here’s part one of their pictures.
Every photographer has their bucket list of things they’d like to shoot. I got to check off several at Michael & Laura’s wedding: freaking amazing old church, wonderfully huge bridal room with makeup mirrors, and horse drawn carriage. As with any wedding I totally wish I had more time to explore the church with the bride and groom, those are my favorite to shoot. BUT…there are more to come so stay tuned…
