Custom Invitation :: Sunset Cruise

I recently had the honor of creating this custom invitation for one of my loyal etsy clients. I love doing custom work, it gives me a chance to be completely creative and artsy. I’m very happy with how this one turned out, I was going for a 1950s “wish you were here” postcard type feel. My favorite part is the boat silhouette, which I created of the actual boat they’d be cruising on.
Thank you for the awesome job, and happy sailing!

Imaging USA :: Favorite Booths & Vendors 2
Round two of my favorite booths and vendors from the show!
Meet :: Finao
I’m always intrigued by Finao’s booth, its usually a lounge style and samples of all their books are strewn about on coffee tables and couches. Their books are also always really cool, lots of textures and styles and covers.
P.S. I love this book. I wish I knew who the photographer was because the whole thing was fantastic!
Meet :: moo.com
I’ve been lusting after moo.com for months, and when I saw they were at the show I screamed with glee like a tiny little girl. My over excitement may have freaked out the employees working the booth. It was awesome to finally hold their products in my hand and their booth was pretty fantastic as well.
I try never to purchase anything at a show, even though all the vendors offer great deals, I avoid impulse purchases at all costs (or no costs…teehee). The only exception to the rule is if I know before hand that I was already planning on purchasing a product. So when I heard that their 100% recycled business cards were on sale I said and yes I shall have some.
And yup you guessed it, another change to Diliberto Photo & Design, new business cards, and made of 100% recycled paper too! I’m giddy with excitement!!
Meet :: White House Custom Color
Ok so I failed at this one, the one vendor I use the most, my beloved printer, I forgot to take pictures of their booth. But they did have one of the coolest contests. They give away T-shirts every year, and if you’re wearing one you have the chance to win a camera. Well, this year they stepped it up and they encouraged everyone to go crazy and be creative with their shirts. The most creative won an ipad! Nice. So I took my T-shirt and created a scarf.
With some hand stitched ruching, and some big yellow buttons, it was quite warm. Unfortunately I didn’t win the iPad, but I did win a free 8×8″ book! SCORE!
I’ve got one more new vendor to share with you, but that will have to wait until later.
ImagingUSA2011 :: New Product!
SO as most of you know my background is in advertising and pr as well as fine art. Basically I’m a hodge podge of creative experience and interests. So when a company does something really cool with say a trade show booth or say…the launch of a new product I have to high five them. So to Miller’s I give a high five, even though you are not my printing company your booth design, phone charging station and Luxe lounge made my design radars tingle.
So you pass a bouncer and go up a large escalator. To your left is this delightful all white desert table. When prices and quality of food in the convention makes you want to just burn money, some decent sugary snacks (free ones I might add) are a welcomed addition to the experience. Miller’s also had an extensive list of speakers showcasing in their Luxe Lounge.
There was also a wall with little sticky notes for photographers to share what inspires them. I loved this!
After all that sugary goodness a bathroom break was necessary. In the stall was the above.
So what was the big release from Miller’s? It was the talk of the show and also a big release for my printer of choice White House. Meet die cut cards! GASP! Cheer! Exclaim! To put it lightly, I’m pumped. Annnnnnndddddd (drum roll) meet Diliberto Photo & Design’s newest new product! Here are 5 samples of the 50 new shapes available. I want an excuse to use the one on the top left, its my favorite, I’m thinking wedding invitation maybe? So my friends, get thinking, lets do party invitations, shower invitations, new address cards, personal stationary, christmas cards, thank you cards…with a photo or without we can design something awesome and completely personalized! Can you tell I’m excited?

Oh Color, How I love Thee
There are just a few things that I am pretty obsessed with…Martha Stewart, Shoes, Design, Humorous Moments of Life, the few things I’m probably forgetting, and color. I wrote my senior thesis paper on color and its effects on advertising. It was fascinating really, and, it was beautiful. Because its color. And I often think we take it completely for granted. I’m sure of it. I’m also sure I could post a very lengthy blog post on color, but I’ll refrain. Instead I will focus on the topic at hand: Pantone.
If there was a god of color it would be Pantone. They are the self-proclaimed, “world-renowned authority on color”. And it’s totally true. Basically, back in the early 1960s this guy named Lawrence decided to fix a problem; inconsistency among colors in the graphic arts (which he noted was due to every single person interpreting the spectrum of color differently, which makes total sense if you think about it). So Lawrence decided to make a book, fan style, called the PANTONE® MATCHING SYSTEM®, or PMS, that would set the standard for what color was supposed to look like.
Now, everyone uses it. Yes, everyone. If you deal with color, you know Pantone. And they’ve branched out from that little fan book into just about everything. My favorite lately is paint (sorry Martha).
Today I got an e-mail from Pantone alerting me that the Top 10 Pantone Colors for Fashion Spring 2011 have been released. Knowing this is not only cool, but makes me feel super fashion savvy. The seamless integration of the Pantone system into the fashion industry makes my heart go pitter patter. You can download a PDF of the Spring 2011 colors which includes color picks from top designers such as Tommy Hilfiger, Betsy Johnson, Carlos Campos, AND sketches from some of their new lines. I love fashion design sketches and will one day have a few framed on my walls. The Fall 2010 PDF is very awesome as well. So, I strongly encourage you to check it all out on Pantone’s website here.
The full history of Pantone can be found on their website www.pantone.com.

Arms Like Jello
Bill and I have been hard at work today, we did the lawn (he mowed while I edged), cleaned the house, painted my office, put everything back in my office, went through an incredible amount of paperwork that needed to be filed, and we did laundry. Be impressed. But after painting and the weed eating my arms feel like they are going to fall off my body. Its taking far too much energy just to type. It’s also taking far too long for each letter to appear on the screen.
Ever since my hard drive crashed and it was replaced my computer has been maddeningly slow. They gave me a larger hard drive but failed to mention that it was quite a bit slower. Apple, you will be hearing from me shortly.
The ache of the slowness was almost unbearable while I was working on my last project for my church, graphics for a new sermon series called Joshua Tree: Wanting All the Right Things. I got to see some of the notes while having a creative meeting for the artwork and I’d have to say I’m excited to hear what this will all be about.
I’m itching to do a photo shoot. I don’t have anything scheduled for a while so if anyone would like to take advantage of this free time I have and schedule something, please let me know. =)

Friday Flights~Vol 4
I know I’ve missed a few Fridays, but this one is kinda different. Its not particularly on the list, but its something I want for others. I Want A New Marriage. Not for me, not that my marriage is all butterflies and rainbows but we’ve got it somewhat together. Its just lately, I’ve been over come with grief for the large number of close friends who have come to me about separations from their significant others. I’m in shock honestly. And my heart aches for them.
These are amazing people, and I’m just shocked (I know I said this already, but I’m so shocked I had to say it twice for emphasis). Coming from divorced parents I hate the thing, luckily my parents are good friends, and their significant others are good friends, and I got two brothers out of the deal and an amazing step father I wouldn’t trade for anything. Plus my dad’s girlfriend is pretty awesome too. Even with all these things, it still sucks that my parents couldn’t make it work. I don’t often think, “what if?” because I do have all those amazing by products of my parents’ divorce, but when I do the thing I think most is “what if someone could have helped them.” Which brings me to my next point, a shameless (no sarcasm there, seriously) plug for a little series called, I Want A New Marriage.
My church (please non church goers, don’t get lost at the word church, keep reading) is beginning a series on marriage on May 9th. I know, I said the big “C” word, but really, I think, “is your marriage worth saving?” I’m not claiming that this series will save your marriage, but I’d like to think that you may learn something, even if its one thing, that may help your marriage. We can all learn right? And I promise Jesus will not be thrown down your throat, scouts honor. Below are the topics.
May 9 Marriage Myths & Misconceptions
May 16 His Needs / Her Needs
May 23 Doing Conflict Right!
May 30 Better Sex…Way Better!
June 6 Affair-Proofing Your Marriage (Guest Ted & Gayle Haggard)
June 13 Renewing Your Vows
You’re welcome to come hear the series live on Sundays at 10am at Schindewolf Intermediate School in Spring, Texas, we have free coffee and donuts! =) But if you’re not in the Houston area, or if you kinda get a little freaked out by the idea of stepping foot in a church (technically you wouldn’t be, seeing as how we meet in a school *insert sneaky smile*) just listen to the podcast online from the comfort of your own home, car, or office. You can listen to them at http://northwoodag.com/location/Podcast/Podcast.html, which gets updated faster than on iTunes.
I must also note that I had the privilege of helping with the graphics for this series, not my ideas but I’ve helped adapt them to other things. Much love for awesome church graphics. High five.
But seriously, listen to the series.
