Friday Flight ~ Vol. 12

Its been ages since I did a Friday Flight but a friend of mine shared this with me today and I’d be doing my readers a disservice if I did not share it in a friday flight.

(If you want an explanation on this whole friday flight business check it out here.)

I would like these please…

But with one of them I’d like to do this…

Don’t gasp, its ok, cause then I’d do this…

Or maybe this…

All because its this…

Its a camera lens…its a mug…its a camera lens…its a mug. It’s a camera lens AND a mug!! Its sold by photojojo, please go check it out. And for the black one its $24 and the white one $30, not bad for the level of awesomeness. Pay attention husband, mother, father, step father, brothers…this one is on the Christmas list for sure!

Friday Flight ~ Vol. 11

I’ve been SO wanting to learn how to can things: salsa, sauce (marinara), pickles, jalepenos, etc. I saw this book during our shopping excursion and was amazed that it was at such a trending place like Anthropologie. I’d be for any book on canning really, Ooo, especially an old 1950s one. That would be perfect!

So here we shall add a canning book and the desire to learn to can on this Friday Flight.

Friday Flight ~ Vol. 10

What can I say, I’ve got Ethan Allen on the brain. I love this bed. The linens aren’t really my style, but the bed frame itself reminds me a lot of my childhood bed. I’m a fan of the curves and the color and the ode to more country/classic style. And guess what! Its on sale for a breezy $1,599 for a queen. Maybe I’m cheep, though I’d rather call it thrifty, or maybe I’m just not up to speed on the cost of furniture lately, but this seems like a lot to me. Still I like it.

Friday Flight ~ Vol. 9

Ketti Handbags

I want one…right…now. The Ketti Bag is made for photographers, it has awesome compartments for all your lenses and camera bits, flashes, batteries, etc. just like a traditional camera bag, except its cute. This is one of my most favorites thus far (I’m trending towards yellow, gray, black, and white).

Basically, this puts my giant Canon branded rectangle bag to complete shame.

From what I can tell there are limited editions of all her patterns and designs, which are seasonal. To be really honest I’d like about four of these in different color schemes. They just make my heart so happy.

The photos are from her website (please don’t hate or sue me Ketti, I just love your bags and want to tell people about them).

And that my friends, concludes another Friday Flight.

Friday Flight~Vol.7

The Tamron 18-270mm

I’ve been needing a new lens. Yes needing. Something more versatile would greatly aid in my shooting. I’m extremely brand loyal to Canon. My loyalty level is right up there with my loyalty level to Apple, but most of the lenses I want start at $1000 and go up from there. Honestly, not in the budget at the moment. I saw a review recently over at the Made Blog and thought, “hmm, this might be an option”. Dana is not a photographer by trade, but she does have a great eye and a desire to learn. I moseyed on over to Digital Photography Review and though it didn’t score as high as other lenses, it wasn’t too shabby and they did recommend it. And at a price tag as low at $450 on some online sellers, you can’t beat that, especially for a range like 18-270mm.

So add the Tamron 10-270mm to the list of Friday Flights.

Friday Flight~Vol.6

Blog readers, meet the dyson DC25 Animal. Dyson DC25 Animal, please meet my blog readers. I never thought I’d ever lust after a vacuum cleaner. I still find it quite odd that any time I see a dyson in a store I feel the need to observe and touch it. My husband says I have expensive taste, and at $549.99 I’d say he’s right on that one. But I also have to consider that I really appreciate things that just work, have smooth design, and make my life easier. Seriously if you’ve never used one, you need to, it changes your life. Ok. Maybe not your life, but at least your perspective on what a vacuum should do.

In my first apartment a friend let us borrow his dyson to vacuum out our fireplace. That sucker (ha ha pun) had the power of a massive shop vac, it was amazing. And was our fireplace ever clean!

So on the list, dyson DC25 Animal. One day you will be mine, you will be mine.

Friday Flight~Vol.5

The Office. Not the show. The place where I work. Though the show is quite awesome and I would really love a general “office” sign for my door. Anyways.

Its the first room I’ve really focused on in the house. I have a general idea of what I want in the other rooms as far as color schemes go:

Living Room: Grey, Black, White, Splashes of Yellow (possible tiny splash of turquoise as well, though I haven’t committed to the idea)

Kitchen/Dining: Black, White, Lime Green (LOVE IT)

Master Bedroom: Shades of Brown, Cream, and Olive

Master Bath: Undecided

Spare Bath: Chocolate Brown, Blue-Green

Spare Room: Chocolate Brown, Blue (mostly because I have all this stuff left over from college)

Back Patio: Eventually Blacks, Browns and Burnt Orange

Office: White, Martha Stewart’s Ash Bark for walls, With Accent Wall of Martha Stewart’s Feldspar (color accents in this as well).

Feldspar looks more blue green in real life.

I had a white drafting table already so I purchased these two things from ikea

Sorry the picture of the table is so lame, they didn’t have a picture on their site of it all put together. Any who, the table matches up perfectly with my drafting table giving me an entire wall of table top work space. Plus it all sits in front of a window which will eventually be flanked by Feldspar colored fabric covered cork boards. The book case is on the wall to the right with a small filing cabinet. On the left wall will be a giant 8′ or 10′ by 6′ dry erase board (yeah I’m pretty into them).

Now, the wall across from the desks, also where the door to enter the room is, needs a couch. I’m being very picky about said couch because I’d love for this space to double as a second guest bedroom if need be. So a normal couch just won’t do, a sleeper sofa it is. I’ve been searching and searching for one that I like and will fit in the budget. So I found this one from CB2, fantastic, not really budget friendly.

At over $1,000 after taxes and shipping my husband would have a heart attack and I think so would I. I look at $1,000 and go, thats a new computer (well a macbook) or a new lens, or some nice soft box lights. Not a couch for guests! (sorry to any future guests, its not that I don’t care, it’s just that’s a whole lot of money, I think you would want me to spend it smarter).

So I looked at my beloved Target, no such luck. And then I remembered my friend Bethia got a similar couch at Walmart and thats when I found this:

Smooth, fake leather, sexy, sleek, not the same couch as my friend but for a very very sweet $149 who can complain. The reviews all looked fantastic and just like the CB2 couch it lays flat, reclines, or upright. Nice. But then…I saw this…

I have a soft spot for 60′s-ish design. This couch sings to me. Also fake leather, extremely more sexy than the black couch, goes with the decor, will sit against the Feldspar wall (thanks Martha, you’re awesome). I might be in love with this couch. Oh, and did I mention its $249? Oh with free site to store shipping? Why thank you Wal-Mart, I think I will.

With that said the Bella Convertible Futon in White will be mine shortly. Future guests, prepare yourself for this beauty.

Friday Flights~Vol 4

I know I’ve missed a few Fridays, but this one is kinda different. Its not particularly on the list, but its something I want for others. I Want A New Marriage. Not for me, not that my marriage is all butterflies and rainbows but we’ve got it somewhat together. Its just lately, I’ve been over come with grief for the large number of close friends who have come to me about separations from their significant others. I’m in shock honestly. And my heart aches for them.

These are amazing people, and I’m just shocked (I know I said this already, but I’m so shocked I had to say it twice for emphasis). Coming from divorced parents I hate the thing, luckily my parents are good friends, and their significant others are good friends, and I got two brothers out of the deal and an amazing step father I wouldn’t trade for anything. Plus my dad’s girlfriend is pretty awesome too. Even with all these things, it still sucks that my parents couldn’t make it work. I don’t often think, “what if?” because I do have all those amazing by products of my parents’ divorce, but when I do the thing I think most is “what if someone could have helped them.”  Which brings me to my next point, a shameless (no sarcasm there, seriously) plug for a little series called, I Want A New Marriage.

My church (please non church goers, don’t get lost at the word church, keep reading) is beginning a series on marriage on May 9th. I know, I said the big “C” word, but really, I think, “is your marriage worth saving?” I’m not claiming that this series will save your marriage, but I’d like to think that you may learn something, even if its one thing, that may help your marriage. We can all learn right? And I promise Jesus will not be thrown down your throat, scouts honor. Below are the topics.

May 9 Marriage Myths & Misconceptions
May 16 His Needs / Her Needs
May 23 Doing Conflict Right!
May 30 Better Sex…Way Better!
June 6 Affair-Proofing Your Marriage (Guest Ted & Gayle Haggard)
June 13 Renewing Your Vows

You’re welcome to come hear the series live on Sundays at 10am at Schindewolf Intermediate School in Spring, Texas, we have free coffee and donuts! =) But if you’re not in the Houston area, or if you kinda get a little freaked out by the idea of stepping foot in a church (technically you wouldn’t be, seeing as how we meet in a school *insert sneaky smile*) just listen to the podcast online from the comfort of your own home, car, or office. You can listen to them at http://northwoodag.com/location/Podcast/Podcast.html, which gets updated faster than on iTunes.

I must also note that I had the privilege of helping with the graphics for this series, not my ideas but I’ve helped adapt them to other things. Much love for awesome church graphics. High five.

But seriously, listen to the series.

Friday Flight ~ Vol. 3

I didn’t post at all this week! Gosh I’m lame.

So I have to tell you about the wonders of Kinder Eggs. They are just about my favorite thing in the entire world. Imagine an egged shaped chocolaty goodness, a thin layer of milk chocolate surrounding a thin layer of white chocolate. You break open the egg and inside is a colorful pod. Inside the pod is a toy. A TOY! One which you have to put together and sometimes add stickers. Its basically the most fantastic thing ever, and I don’t like chocolate (I make Bill eat the chocolate). A toy, inside a pod, inside a chocolate egg. Dang.

They weren’t on the list until last weekend when I went to Nundini and couldn’t find any. Nundini is my Italian imports place, talked about it in a few posts before, also the only place I knew of to purchase them. The awesome guy at Nundini proceeded to tell me that our fantastic government has outlawed by beloved Kinder Eggs!!! WHAT!?! Are you serious US Government? You outlawed a toy inside a pod inside chocolate? There wasn’t anything better for you to be doing? Why would you outlaw something so wonderful? What the heck!

I never thought I would seriously consider trying to smuggle something into my country. Sadly the one thing I would consider smuggling is a toy inside a pod inside an egg, my beloved Kinder Egg. A piece of me died last week. No longer will I be able to add to my collection of awesome Kinder Egg toys. No longer will I be able to force my husband to eat all the chocolate. No longer will I experience the joy of opening that pod and discovering what toy I had received, birthed from an egg of chocolate. Its a sad day and I felt like I should share it. Above & below are pictures from the day my husband proposed to me. Just a few hours before the proposal we went to Nundini for Kinder Eggs. =(

Toms Shoes

So I know probably everyone knows about Toms by now and that I’m not all that hip, new, or different, but I have to say its been on the list since when they only had what they now call the “classic” shoe. I just haven’t had the extra income to buy shoes that are $40+. Which sounds horrible if you know what Toms is all about.

But incase you’ve been living under a rock, or just haven’t heard, for every pair of shoes you buy Toms gives a pair of shoes to a child in need. Toms calls it their One for One business model. I think this is SUPER awesome. And all these needy children have no idea how fashion forward/trendy they are with their Toms shoes.

I love the classic gray, I love the fabric inside, and they are comfy to boot. Though they are not boots.

They carry these in Whole Foods and every time I am there I hold them. They’re vegan, which though I am not vegan, I can appreciate. I just love when text is used as a visual element.

What girl doesn’t love a sparkly shoe? I’ve got some sparkly zebra print shoes from Target that I love, so I’m pretty sure I’d love these just the same.

T-shirt, V-neck, talks about being barefoot, and its creative. Awesome.

You can find out more about Toms at www.toms.com
